Ian Richardson

Local boy makes good, or villain

The sad and untimely demise of the great actor Ian Richardson has been marked by thoughtful obituaries in many publications. But the death of the ex-Tynie schoolboy has perhaps not had the attention it deserves in his birthplace of Shandon Crescent. There is much excited talk of a blue plaque being erected on the wall of his former dwelling (an odd numbered house between 5 and 9!) and even a small museum (open Tues 7-9pm and Sun 10:30-12:00; admittance £7.50 adults, concessions £4.00). However, it seems that good old 'arry Park may certainly be in the running for an application for another commemorative tree and plot. You read it here first.
